LIFESTYLE refers to the four stages of human development in which individuals reach their ultimate potential. The word was derived by Austrian psychiatrist and psychologist Alfred Adler in his article, The Case of Miss R. which means “a human being’s basic personality as established early on”. Adler further defines LIFESTYLE as a stage following the process of becoming psychologically mature.
LIFESTYLE is usually related to the work of Weber as the concept of individual psychology is closely linked to the LIFESTYLE stage. Some of the characteristics that Weber believed define human beings at this stage were rationalization, adaptation, and the ability for personal change. This also connects the idea of individual psychology with Weber’s concept of spoliation. This is because we are able to change our perspective and rationalize with the help of other people and come up with new perspectives and interpretations.
